Data management

The British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) is the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) designated data centre responsible for the management of data sets originating from the UK Shelf Sea Biogeochemistry (SSB) programme. BODC is a UK national facility concerned with the management of marine data. It has a long-standing tradition in project data management, pioneering the ‘end-to-end’ approach in the 1980’s. BODC will primarily be responsible for the long-term curation of data arising from the programme and making the data available to programme members and to the public.
